Strategic Goal - Improve communication within our state council.
Tactical Plan- Develop website; train local associations
to create their own
Develop newsgroups within our IL council:
- Legislative newsgroup
- Public Relations
- Fundraising Ideas
Utilize email amongst the local associations to communicate ideas
Chat rooms - Utilize these to conserve time for local board meetings

Leadership development
- Develop prospective leaders for local and state leadership
positions. Hold leadership training sessions to help current leaders
to understand their current roles and responsibilities.
Strategic Goal - - being well informed about NAIW structures,
the objectives and purpose of the local, regional and national
associations and having the necessary tools to develop and create
leaders for the local associations and the Illinois council.
Tactical Plan - hold an annual state council leadership
training session. Local association presidents encourage all state
association members to attend annual council meeting, regional
and national conferences.
- Work with a mentoring program to generate leadership development
between associations

- Membership development and
retention
Strategic Goal - Increase membership of the local association
and create new associations as needed.
Tactical Plan - review demographics of size/location
of associations and where a new association may be needed
~Publicize our successes. (Quick brag time!) Share ideas on
meeting programs,what works and what doesn't.Share fundraising
ideas. Share successful recruitment methods, share membership
retention ideas.
Strategic Goal- Keep the personal touch and stay in contact
with one another.
Tactical Plan - Make calls, send letters and emails to
keep the lines of communication open amongst local associations
members and members’ at large.
Strategic Goal - Establish and communicate procedures
to local presidents of struggling associations and make them
aware that the Illinois council is available as a resource.
Tactical Plan - Have the council director work with the
RVP and ask the RVP to work with National to improve how we
operate to become more effective. We need to operate more professionally
to attract new members.

- Education of how the Council
operates
Strategic Goal - Make sure all of the members are aware
of how the Council operates.
Tactical Plan - Review council responsibilities and President’s
duties at the annual leadership meeting. Conduct first-timer sessions
and review Horizon plan at each annual Council Meeting.
~Organize an Insurance Education Council to partner and cosponsor
educational programs with other insurance and/or professional
organizations.
Other ideas
- Foster a supportive and caring environment.
- Encourage new members to get involved and eliminate barriers
by including new members in meeting planning.
- Make sure that non-renewing members are aware of what’s
happening in NAIW.
- Start a retention campaign entitled, No member left behind”
to stay in contact with former members and encourage new members
to mentor one another.
